The president posted on X, “An extraordinary man, deeply human, noble and brave, with determination, ideals of justice and freedom.”
The head of State added that the Bolivarian leader “became a second father, an example, a guide and a teacher.”
Maduro uploaded a video of Commander Chavez saying, “I met him when I was in prison and I remember that Nicolas arrived with a group of students, of workers, as he always is.”
On the video, Chavez stressed that Maduro “is always like a hurricane,” pointing out that he crossed over the desert along with us, building the 200 Bolivarian Revolutionary Movement.”
The Commander said, “We traveled the country everywhere, from end to end, from north to south and from east to west,” underscoring that “Nicolas Maduro has courage, intelligence, youth and dignity, a worker.”
On the same video, the current Venezuelan head of State recalled that he met Commander Chavez on December 16, 1993, in the Yare prison, and noted, “in the background you could hear his voice… and you could see his silhouette.”
Maduro recalled that he met Chavez personally, “we already knew him in his message, in his writings” by the time Chavez invited them to his cell, “boys, come on in,” and there he talked non-stop about the Bolivarian project.
The president noted that he was always surprised by his human character that “I did not get it in anyone, and in such an important person, what less could one expect”, he pointed.
“That day I left levitating, my mind went to the future years; I said, ‘this is the way,’ I had no doubt, long live the historic memory of Commander Hugo Chavez Frias!” Maduro concluded.
