The institution’s director, Jeanna González, explained that a Festival of Plants takes place every month to show different kinds of plants, mainly ornamental varieties, and teaching children how to grow them in recycled plastic containers in their homes.
The activity combines drawing exhibitions, musical performances, poem recitals, and story reading to take care of the environment.
Educator Adanlys Espinosa said that children themselves take care of the plants in nature’s corner to create environmental awareness at an early age.
Children’s homes in enterprises and neighborhoods are a variant of Cuba’s Ministry of Education to protect and educate children and favor working women.
