Cuba: PCC plenary session focuses on socioeconomic challenges

Havana, Dec 16 (Prensa Latina) The challenges of Cuba's economic and social reality are the focus on Saturday of the 7th plenary session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), which is being held in this capital.

The PCC meeting is analyzing the political-ideological work to fulfill the ideas, concepts, and guidelines of the 8th PCC Congress held in April 2021.

Participants will review the actions and protocols to cope with gender violence, as it is a social problem.

On Friday, Communist Party Organization Secretary Roberto Morales noted that the Party is working on actions to reverse and find alternatives to the complex situation that the country is going through.

Upon presenting the Political Bureau’s report, Morales pointed out that Cuba is facing the consequences of the “US siege of maximum pressure and total suffocation, which does not stop in its failed attempt at overthrowing the Revolution.”

The political leader stated that in the face of this situation, efforts are intensifying to find solutions “with creativity and our own efforts.”

Morales called on the country’s productive forces to play the role that corresponds to the Party’s membership.

Other issues on debate on the first day of the PCC plenary session were the obstacles that prevent the socialist state enterprise from playing its role as the leading stockholder in Cuba’s economy, and the difficulties in attending to and controlling non-state actors.

Debates also focused on analyzing the implementation of 93 measures approved to recover the sugarcane industry, where actions have not yet succeeded in production, with a significant reduction in crops and low agricultural yields.
