Trump’s former lawyer decidedly in political ruin

Rudy-Guliani-768x411
Washington, Dec 15 (Prensa Latina) Rudy Guliani, Donald Trump's former lawyer, could lose millions of dollars for defending the theories of electoral fraud falsely spread by former US president.

At issue here this week in a civil defamation trial is how much Guliani will have to pay two Georgia election officials, who won a lawsuit against him in August. The court is expected to report its verdict in the coming weeks.

The former New York mayor’s defense acknowledged on Thursday his client actually committed “wrongful conduct” when in 2020 he accused Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Shaye Moss, of committing voter fraud in Georgia.

A federal judge determined four months ago that Giuliani is guilty of defaming the two women and on Thursday closing arguments were held in the trial, where the amount is yet to be defined.

In 2020, Guliani and the Trump campaign released a video of Freeman and Moss at a Georgia polling station and claimed without evidence that they two were taking out suitcases full of ballots.

The disgraced ex-politician claimed in court that he could no longer refute that he made false and defamatory statements about the two women, who are part of a broader group that sued him after the election three years ago.

In his mountain of legal issues, Trump was charged in two court proceedings, one in a Washington federal court and another in a Georgia state court, for his attempts to overturn the election results he lost in 2020.

Giuliani – who decided at the last minute not to testify in the civil defamation trial – was charged in the Georgia case as Trump’s accomplice in the Georgia scheme.
