Colombian Foreign Minister makes working visit to Haiti

Bogota, Dec 15 (Prensa Latina) Colombian Foreign Minister Alvaro Leyva today began a working visit to Haiti that will include the opening of a consulate of the South American country in Port-au-Prince, the Foreign Ministry informed here.

According to the statement, the official’s agenda includes the evaluation of the current state of the bilateral agenda to identify additional areas of collaboration, cooperation and exchange.

This, in accordance with the National Government’s foreign policy priorities which, among other issues, seeks to strengthen Colombia’s relationship with the Greater Caribbean, in line with the objectives set out in the National Development Plan.

Leyva, who has already held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship, Jean Victor Généus, plans to meet this day with the Prime Minister, Ariel Henry, and part of his ministerial cabinet.

Later, he will attend the new headquarters of the Colombian consulate in Port-au-Prince, together with the general consul in this city, Vilma Velásquez, and a group of Colombian nationals residing in Haiti.
