El Salvador consolidates security results

San Salvador, Dec 14 (Prensa Latina) El Salvador consolidates the results of its security policy by reaching more than 500 days without homicides attributable to gangs during the current government, according to media reports.

In reporting that this Wednesday the country closed without gang-related fatalities, Diario El Salvador highlighted the effectiveness of the Territorial Control Plan and the support of the emergency regime in this result.

The National Civil Police (PNC) in a message on social media reported that December 13 ended with zero homicides throughout the Salvadoran territory, to which is added a coordinated work between El Salvador and its neighbors, including Mexico and the United States, for the capture of important gang figures hiding in those countries.

It is also worth mentioning the approval this week by the Legislative Assembly of 52.3 million dollars more to reinforce the Territorial Control Plan, which will go to Defense and Security, the two ministries that bear the brunt of the fight against the maras or gangs.

Within the allocations, $36.8 million will go to National Defense, “to finance obligations related to the Territorial Control Plan”, according to the Vice Minister of Finance, Luis Sanchez.
