The organization explained that the decision responds to the need to mobilize in order to strengthen the unity of the popular field and the capacity for resistance, and pointed out that it is essential that the voice of all sectors be heard, and defend sovereignty, work, production, social justice and democracy.
The secretary general of the CTA-A, Hugo Godoy, denounced in a press conference the extreme crudeness and brutality of the actions that the country’s new leadership approved, and warned that they will lead to a path of recession and hyperinflation. “There will be an economic concentration for financial and speculative groups against salaries and national and provincial industries. They try to justify a monetary devaluation of 118 percent that will multiply poverty in weeks,” he added.
He also reproved the support of the International Monetary Fund for these measures, and assured that the CTA-A will defend all jobs and will do everything possible to prevent policies of backwardness and loss of sovereignty.
Minister of Economy Luis Caputo announced on Tuesday that State labor contracts that are less than a year old will not be renewed and confirmed the reduction of the ministries from 18 to 9 and the number of secretariats from 106 to 54. This means an elimination of more 50 percent of the hierarchical positions of the public service and 34 of the total political positions, he explained.
Moreover, Caputo reported the reduction of subsidies for energy and transportation, the devaluation of the national currency, the end of public works and the minimum reduction of transfers to the provinces.
