The nine states which have not signed the respective federalization agreements will have to guarantee free health services with their own resources and infrastructure.
A note from the Mexican Institute of Social Security and Welfare (IMSS-Bienestar) points out that the modifications approved last night with 207 votes in favor of Morena and its allies, and 167 opposition legislators against, was sent to the Executive for publication in the Official Journal of the Federation and its entry into force.
It adds that, with the changes to the Fiscal Coordination and General Health Laws, for the provision of medical services, the states will have to sign an agreement with the federation and those that do so will be able to continue receiving resources from the Fund, but will have to transfer them to the Health for Wellbeing Fund, which is administered by IMSS-Bienestar.
Opposition deputies explained that said fund has a budget of 135 billion pesos for 2024, of which 110 billion would be transferred to the federation.
