SOS Journalistes, condemned the actions of the government commissioner in Les Cayes, Ronald Richemond, who, in its opinion, took advantage of the situation to free his acquaintance Wikens Thirogène, alias Pouchon.
“To the surprise of many, it was the journalist Guerlan Hyppolite, a close friend of the deceased journalist, who has been arrested on the orders of Commissioner Richemond, whose close security agents, i.e. seconded policemen are suspected of being involved in this heinous crime,’ told the press the director of the organization and former Minister of Communication, Guyler C.Delva.
He also regretted that Hyppolite was being held for 344 days in connection with the case.
Late in October last year, Tess’s body was found dead after a week of disappearance, in circumstances that have not yet been clarified. Gary hosted a program on a radio station in the city of Les Cayes (south) until his death.
At the time, SOS Journalistes urged the Prime Minister, Ariel Henry, the Minister of Justice, Emmelie Prophète-Milcé, and the Superior Council of the Judiciary to take all necessary administrative and security measures to protect Judge Robert Jourdain, who is the subject of persistent and serious death threats.
