According to the city’s meteorological center, snowfall averaged 5.8 millimeters, while the heaviest rainfall was recorded in Fangshan district, with 10.2 millimeters.
Authorities issued a yellow alert for icy roads until 14:00 local time today.
More than 180 bus routes in Beijing were suspended, the city arranged some 63,000 workers, prepared more than 6,600 vehicles and other equipment for snow removal and clearing ice from roads, Xinhua news agency reported.
According to China Railway Beijing Group Co. Ltd., several trains leaving or passing through this capital were also cancelled for this Monday and the company imposed speed restrictions for those traveling in both directions.
In addition, a total of 65 flights had been canceled at Beijing Capital International Airport by noon.
Xinhua cited reports of accidents involving several cyclists near the Xuanwumen district.
China has a four-level weather warning system, with red representing the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
According to the weather forecast, light snowfall will continue throughout the day.
