On his X account, the Cuban president sent a hug of the Cuban people to that South American country, after an electrical discharge sparked a fire on Saturday evening in a camp of the Landless Rural Workers’ Movement, in which a dozen persons were killed.

According to a press release from that peasant organization, the incident occurred when workers installing an Internet antenna accidentally touched some high-voltage cables.

The discharge generated a short circuit that caused a fire in the camp on the outskirts of Paraupebas city.

Three of the company’s employees were killed instantly, and six other persons died due to the tragedy.
