A statement from the Honduran Executive, published on social media, stated that in the meeting, held the day before in this capital, the president expressed her gratitude for the presence of the delegation and acknowledged the proposals against the coup d’état of 2009.
Likewise, the head of State admitted the allegations of human rights violations, corruption and drug trafficking that occurred during the regime of former President Juan Orlando Hernández.
She highlighted the achievements of the democratic socialist government, including the return to constitutional order, the strengthening of the rule of law and the fight against corruption.
In addition, she emphasized on the cancellation of trusts, the repeal of the law of secrets and the regulations of the Special Economic Development Zone (ZEDE), as well as the struggle against drug trafficking and organized crime framed in the Government’s plan to rebuild Honduras.
She thanked the approach of the delegation of U.S. senators and congressmen, supporting their concern to promote national dialogue.
