Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning added that the EU’s latest statement on the issue spread disinformation and seriously violated this nation’s internal affairs, for which Beijing deplored and strongly opposed the text.
“China has a people-centered human rights philosophy and believes that a happy life for people is the most important human right,” she said.
The spokeswoman emphasized that the Asian country built a modestly affluent society in all aspects: “we have won the greatest battle against poverty in human history and have put in place the world’s largest education, social security and health systems.”
Mao stressed that the Asian nation is working to improve the people’s living environment, “develop people’s democracy of the whole process, promote the rule of law for human rights and safeguard equity and social justice.”
“China found a path for better human rights that follows the trend of the times and fits our national realities,” she said.
The spokeswoman noted that the freedoms of all ethnic groups are fully protected, including those related to religious beliefs and the use of typical languages.
