Venezuela thanked Celac and Caricom efforts in Esequibo´s case

Caracas, Dec 10 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela thanked the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the Community of Caribbean States (CARICOM) for their efforts to promote direct high-level dialogue with Guyana, it was reported.

In his X account, Foreign Minister Yván Gil pointed out that the Government of President Nicolás Maduro and the Venezuelan people “are fully certain that the territorial dispute will only be solved through dialogue, mutual respect and the commitment to preserve the region as a zone of peace and free from interference”.

The thanks came hours after it was announced that President Nicolás Maduro and his Guyanese counterpart, Irfaan Alí, accepted the request of both blocs to meet next Thursday in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The heads of State will address at the meeting, sponsored by CELAC and CARICOM, the territorial controversy of the Essequiba Guiana, a territorial space in dispute for more than a century and which in recent weeks has escalated in tone with mutual accusations.

A letter released yesterday by the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the President of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, Ralph Gonsalves, and sent to Maduro and Ali, indicated that the high-level meeting between the leaders will take place at 10:00 a.m., local time.

Venezuela agradeció gestiones de Celac y Caricom en caso esequibo

Caracas, 10 dic (Prensa Latina) Venezuela agradeció las gestiones de la Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos y Caribeños (Celac) y de la Comunidad de Estados del Caribe (Caricom) para impulsar el diálogo directo de alto nivel con Guyana, trascendió hoy.

En su cuenta X, el canciller Yván Gil señaló que el Gobierno del presidente Nicolás Maduro y el pueblo venezolano “tenemos plena certeza de que la controversia territorial solo será resuelta a través del diálogo, el respeto mutuo y el compromiso por preservar la región como una zona de paz y libre de injerencias”.

El agradecimiento bolivariano ocurrió horas después de que se diera a conocer que los presidentes Nicolás Maduro, y su homólogo de Guyana, Irfaan Alí, aceptaran la solicitud de ambos bloques de reunirse el venidero jueves en San Vicente y las Granadinas.

Los jefes de Estado abordarán en el encuentro, auspiciado por la Celac y Caricom, la controversia territorial de la Guayana Esequiba, espacio territorial en disputa hace más de un siglo y que en las últimas semanas subió de tono con acusaciones mutuas.

Una carta divulgada ayer por el primer ministro sanvicentino y presidente la Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos y Caribeños, Ralph Gonsalves, y que fuera enviada a Maduro y a Alí, indicó que la cita de alto nivel entre los mandatarios se efectuará a las 10:00, hora local.
