In a statement on the state news agency KCNA, Kim Son Gyong, vice-minister of foreign affairs in charge of international organizations, said that Washington based its decision on Israel’s right to self-defense, ignoring the fact that this part of Palestine is bathed in blood.
He recalled that last October, under the same pretext, the United States also blocked a draft resolution on humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip.
The diplomat stressed that time and again, this “arrogant member” of the Security Council tramples on the unanimous desire of the international community to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East and other regions of the world.
He pointed out that, on the other hand, the U.S. protested bitterly when other members of that UN body vetoed draft resolutions aimed against the DPRK.
As an example of Washington’s double standards, Kim Son Gyong cited its opposition to the DPRK’s recent launch of a military reconnaissance satellite, ignoring that this is a genuine right to defense.
