Security measures hightened for presidential handover in Argentina

Buenos Aires, Dec 9 (Prensa Latina) The Argentine government today ordered the strengthening of aerospace protection measures on the occasion of the presidential inauguration ceremony that will take place on Sunday in this capital city.

This Sunday, the leader of La Libertad Avanza, or Freedom Advances, Javier Milei, will be sworn in as Head of State before the Congress and will receive from the outgoing president, Alberto Fernández, the formal and symbolic elements and insignia of the first magistracy.

In view of the need to guarantee security and protection during the event, which will be attended by foreign delegations, Fernandez ordered the adoption of special measures, which were published on Saturday in the executive Special Bulletin.

According to Decree 734/2023, “the use of force by means of the Aerospace Defense System is authorized to shoot down and/or destroy incursor vectors declared hostile”.

The President has the decision-making power to enforce such mesaures if they were deemed necessary and the Joint Aerospace Commander will communicate to the National Civil Aviation Administration the necessary traffic restrictions.
