Press reports indicate that the final debates will probably begin in January, since the deputies leave for vacation on December 14, and the response of the Supreme Court of Justice to the consultation made on the text is still pending.
The Court has time to send it on December 13, so the discussion and approval will take place after the end of the year recess.
We will resume this initiative in January, since the Supreme Court of Elections already responded to the consultation made on the approved draft, Arias pointed out.
The Juridical Commission ruled over the file unanimously at the end of November, after it was summoned by the Executive Branch for the extraordinary sessions.

“That is why we worked on this law, to make the legal system stronger and prevent them from using Costa Rican nationality improperly,” he added.
He further said that the reform is presented as a significant step to preserve the integrity of the Costa Rican legal system and promote international cooperation in the fight against transnational crime.
In recent days, the Judicial Investigation Agency has announced through several operations the dismantling of gangs dedicated to drug trafficking, in which foreigners participate, most of them with Costa Rican citizenship.
