“Put your best efforts to extirpate the cancer of drug trafficking, money laundering and human trafficking, among so many terrible injustices”, the Catholic dignitary added in his call to change the situation of the country, in the summary of the celebrations for the anniversary of the Catholic saint, which began on November 28, attended by President Santiago Peña.
The priest also exhorted “to review the unjust structures established and to tear down the barriers that oppress our people”, in his words on the occasion of the last days of celebration of the date before the national patron, which gathered thousands of national and foreign pilgrims.
The authority of the church of Caacupé (54 kilometers west of this capital) asked to recover “the dignity of politics, which is currently turned into a new profession in which the goods of the people are distributed as if it were a spoil of war”.
The bishop exhorted President Peña and other officials present at the mass “to activate the institutions because hunger, disease, lack of decent employment and insecurity do not stop”.
