According to activists in the area, U.S. forces deployed at the Koniko gas field facilities in the north of Deir Ezzor province, some 450 kilometers northeast of this capital, were bombarded with several projectiles.
The Iraqi Islamic Resistance claimed responsibility for the action, and affirmed that it was carried out in response to US support for the genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
Last Monday, two rocket and drone bombings targeted the Kherab Jir and Al-Omar bases.
According to US officials, 74 bombings against U.S. targets in Syria have been reported since October 7. Washington maintains some fifteen bases on Syrian territory without the consent of the Damascus government or the approval of the United Nations.
Syria repeatedly denounced this presence, which it described as an occupation, and assured that the actions of the U.S. military on Syrian territory encourage terrorist activity and aim at destabilizing the country and plundering its wealth.
