In a statement, the Foreign Ministry firmly rejected the measure and warned that it compromises the possibility of establishing a future viable and continuous Palestinian state, in line with the two-state solution called for by the vast majority of countries.
According to Paris, this solution is the only one likely to satisfy Israel’s right to security and the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinians for statehood.
We call on the Israeli authorities to reverse this decision, a recurrent demand of France and the international community in general, which Tel Aviv ignores.
Also on Friday, the Foreign Ministry urged to reinforce, with a view to the search for a political horizon in the Middle East, the role of the Palestinian National Authority, which it considered the “sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people and its aspirations”.
