Cuba’s emblematic hotel goes into Melia’s administration

Havana, Dec 8 (Prensa Latina) The emblematic Sevilla Hotel in Havana has been taken over by the Spanish hotel chain Melia as part of the efforts for the island's tourism recovery.

A note published on his Facebook account by Cuban researcher, advisor and professor Jose Luis Perello, addresses the issue and highlights that the facility now operates under the Affiliated Melia brand.

The analyst says that the Melia hotel chain inaugurated another hotel in the heart of Havana, Cuba’s capital, as the new Sevilla Habana Affiliated by Melia Hotel.

The Sevilla Hotel, inaugurated in 1908, was the first luxury establishment of its kind in Havana, and is close to several places of interest, such as the Museum of the Cuban Revolution, the National Capitol and the Royal Force Castle.

He added that the nearest airport is the Jose Marti International Airport, located 20 kilometers from the hotel.

The hotel’s rooms have been used by Cuban and international celebrities such as José Raúl Capablanca, Lola Flores and Josephine Baker, among others.

The renovated hotel has a rooftop lounge and swimming pool, located in the heart of Old Havana, overlooking the city’s famous Malecon (the first Affiliated by Melia Hotel to open in the Caribbean).

The Sevilla Habana is the sixth Affiliated by Melia to open its doors worldwide.

It has 178 rooms, a pair of restaurants, three lounge bars and a meeting space.
