The film festival, which will end on December 15, will screen seven Cuban productions, including El Mayor by Rigoberto López, Inocencia by Alejandro Gil, and Cuba Libre, by Jorge Luis Sánchez, according to diplomatic sources.

Filmmakers Jorge Luis Sánchez and Alejandro Gil, and producer Rosa Valdez, will present their respective creations to the public attending the festival, organized by the Kerala Department of Cultural Affairs and the Chalachithra State Film Academy.

Recently, the Caribbean nation’s ambassador Alejandro Simancas, who will attend the closing ceremony, held a meeting in Kerala to discuss the island’s program with academy authorities.

During the meeting, the parties explored the possibility of collaboration between the Havana International Film Festival and the IFFK, and the organization of the Malayalam Film Festival (language of that state) in Cuba, as part of strengthening ties between Kerala and the Caribbean nation.

The Kerala International Film Festival attracts the best films, directors and renowned technicians from around the world, which intends to present an exclusive competition section for Asian, African and Latin American directors.
