India confirms sending a cosmonaut to the Moon in 2040

New Delhi, Dec 7 (Prensa Latina) The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, confirmed the efforts made by the space science of that country to achieve, among other objectives, the sending of a cosmonaut to the Moon in 2040.

Modi reiterated those forecasts which endorse India’s scientific progress in a message on social media congratulating the space research agency ISRO for, according to scientists, the successful deflection of the Chandrayaan-3 propulsion module that leads it from lunar orbit to Earth.

This 2023 India celebrated in late August the unprecedented achievement of the successful landing at the South Pole of the Earth’s natural satellite, after nearly a month of travel and difficult maneuvers on the trajectory by the spacecraft with the Vikram module of the Chandrayaan-3 mission.

Also in September, the Aditya L1 mission lifted off to study the sun from a halo orbit located approximately 1.5 million kilometers from Earth, which is about one percent of the distance between the blue planet and the sun.

ISRO scientists also successfully executed the first test related to the Gaganyaan mission, which aims in 2025 to launch a manned spacecraft into space.
