The Foreign Ministry stressed in a statement the importance of abiding by international law and respecting the resolutions issued by the United Nations Security Council after condemning the Israeli attack on a Lebanese Army military center in the Al-Adissa area, in which one soldier was killed, three others were wounded on Tuesday.
The Lebanese diplomacy pointed out that Tel Aviv’s Government has not committed itself to implementing Resolution 1701 issued by the UN Security Council in 2006.
It pointed out that while the ultimate goal of the provision is a permanent ceasefire, Israel is deliberately undermining its terms by attacking Lebanon’s sovereignty almost daily, besides continuing to annex land.
Amid hostilities, the Ministry noted that Israeli air raids have killed and injured a lot of civilians, journalists, paramedics, and children and displaced more than 30,000 Lebanese citizens from their homes.
The Foreign Ministry warned of repeated threats by Israeli officials of launching a preventive war against Lebanon, in addition to the continued violation of Resolution 1701 and national sovereignty.
