The Acpdi branch was constituted yesterday with the presence of the authorities of the Communist Party of Cuba and the government of the territory, the society that will benefit people and their families in a situation of disability will achieve their insertion in the social and economic life.
National President of the managing group, Mayelín Oliva, said this is an achievement, thanks to the efforts of many people identified with the project, to whom she thanked for their contributions.
She told the press that our objective, more than bringing together people with intellectual disabilities in the province, was to create the first headquarters in the country.
It was also known there are more than 6,200 people with this limitation in the province, who from now on will receive the benefits of the Society.
The top organizations of the province, as well as the Cuban Association of People with Physical and Motor Disabilities, the National Association of the Deaf of Cuba and the National Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired contributed to the materialization of the project.
Yliana Barraquet was appointed head of the organization in Sancti Spíritus, who underscored the contribution received from the different institutions to set up the association.
Maria Teresa Delgado, mother of Yoandy Beltran, a local weightlifter who has participated in the Special Olympics World Games, thanked the initiation of this space in the province, in recognition of the drive of so many mothers who, like her, have fought for the creation of Acpdi.
