China and US discuss relations, Taiwan and Palestine

Beijing, Dec 6 (Prensa Latina) Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a phone talk with United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday about bilateral relations, the Taiwan issue, and the Israel-Palestine conflict.

According to Xinhua agency, the head of Chinese diplomacy expressed to the US side the importance of maintaining the positive effects of the San Francisco summit and the consensus reached by the two leaders.

On the Taiwan issue, he urged the United States not to interfere in China’s internal affairs and not to support any secessionist forces on the island.

During the phone call, which according to Xinhua it was at Blinken’s request, Wang called for an early cease-fire in the Israel-Palestine conflict. He added that any solution to the current crisis in Gaza must include a two-state solution, “the agreement on the future of Palestine must reflect the Palestinian citizens’ will.”

The bilateral relations have been severely strained due to the economic war against China, disagreements over the conflict in Ukraine and the Middle East, and the US interference in internal affairs, including the Taiwan issue.

China’s President Xi Jinping and his US counterpart, Joe Biden, recently held a historic meeting in which both sides expressed their commitment to building a more stable relationship based on cooperation, mutual respect, and shared benefits.
