Bolivia celebrates new Cultural Heritage of Humanity

La Paz, Dec 6 (Prensa Latina) Bolivia's Minister of Culture, Sabina Orellana, heads today in the department of Potosi the celebrations for the designation of the annual Festival of Ch'utillos as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

This name was approved on Wednesday at the 18th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), which met in Botswana, in southern Africa.

Today is a day of celebration, (the festivity of Ch’utillos) is not only declared (Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity) but also we assume many responsibilities as State and as Potosí’, assured the holder in declarations to the state channel Bolivia Tv.

Orellana recalled that, with this designation, Bolivia now has 16 heritages recognized by the specialized agency of the United Nations.

There are many more in each department (of the country), we have to analyze which places, what else we are going to present’, she said.

The minister insisted that the new inclusion in the select list of planetary relevance is a recognition to the cultures of the Plurinational State.

The Ch’utillos 2024 festivity consecrated to the faith in San Bartolome will take place on August 25, 26 and 27, in the city of Potosí, with the objective of showing the integration of peoples and their cultural richness, according to the data of the portfolio of Cultures, Decolonization and Depatriarchalization.
