The $22M-worth agreement will finance a project to strengthen resilience to climate change through integrated flood management in Trois-Rivières basin, located in the northwest of the country, the Ministry of Communication informed.
The deal was inked within the framework of the UN Climate Change Conference, which is being held through December 12 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Such an initiative will be perfect to promote ecosystem-based flood management solutions on over 25,000 hectares of land and to focus on climate-resilient agricultural practices so as to limit soil degradation in the area.
Haiti´s Environment Ministry, with support from UNDP and Heifer International, will roll out this new project over an eight-year period through a cross-sectoral approach to address the multiple challenges.
