A video published in Diario Libre and other news outlets shows armed Haitian agents throwing to the ground some boxes of goods situated in the back of a vehicle that a merchant had purchased at a market in Dajabon.
Local media reported that the residents of that territory have criticized Haitian agents’ actions after considering illegal their entry into the national territory and a provocation to the Dominican Armed Forces.
Dominican President Luis Abinader described the Monday border incident as a new act of provocation and informed that the Government is preparing a note of protest to be sent to authorities in Port-au-Prince.
Abinader stated that once the border is reopened, it would operate in the southern zone as usual, where all Haitians entering the Dominican Republic would be subjected to the established biometric control.
