The statistics for the period include 1,000 confirmed cases and 3,548 notifications of patients suspected of carrying the virus during the last 20 days, the General Directorate of Health Surveillance added in its latest weekly epidemiological report, quoted by the newspaper.

According to the health institution, 64 % of these numbers of patients infected or likely to suffer from the disease (transmitted by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes) affect the southwestern areas of Asuncion, Central, Caaguazu and Itapua, according to the health institution.
