Indian youths deliver one million signatures of solidarity with Cuba

New Delhi, Dec 4 (Prensa Latina) Young people from India today handed over to the Cuban embassy a sample of the one million signatures collected in demand for the removal of Cuba from the U.S. list of State Sponsors of Terrorism.

Leaders of the Student Federation of India (SFI), Democratic Youth of India (DYFI), All India Youth Federation (AIYF) and All India Students Federation (AISF) gave the document to Ambassador Alejandro Simancas at a ceremony in tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of his death.

Attending this activity, where the diplomat Abel Aballe stressed the importance of the date for the Cuban people, were also Mariam Alexander Baby, member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), and the secretary general of the All India Peace and Solidarity Organization (Aipso), Arun Kumar.

Later, SFI Secretary General Mayukh Biswas highlighted the need for the “Let Cuba Live” campaign in solidarity with the island and reaffirmed the commitment of Indian youth to noble causes such as the Cuban and Palestinian ones.

He recognized the legacy of Fidel’s ideas for the new generations and the peoples of the world and the significance of the Cuban Revolution with its advances in health, education and the Cuban international medical cooperation.
