Cuba and Colombia sign memorandum in education

Bogota, Dec 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Ambassador to Colombia Javier Caamaño and Secretary of Education of Bogota District Edna Cristina Bonilla signed on Monday a Memorandum of Understanding to establish terms of a strategic alliance in this field.

This alliance will allow the promotion, development and strengthening of mutual cooperation between the Secretariat of Education of Bogota and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Cuba, and will contribute to the exchange of good practices in public policies, programs, experiences and knowledge in the field of education.

In statements to Prensa Latina, the representative of the Cuban educational mission in Colombia, Marbelys Cuellar, stressed the importance of a common agenda among regional countries, which will strengthen South-South cooperation.

In addition, to ensure joint mobilization and action to bolster the fulfillment of Sustainable Development Goal number four for inclusive, equitable and quality education for all throughout life, the Cuban official noted who, as part of the actions in this nation, promotes the development of such collaboration.

Cuellar stressed the need for an alliance with strategic actors that contribute to the strengthening of training processes in educational communities and the development of 21st Century competencies.

This memorandum, which is in force as of this signing, will remain in effect until December 31, 2024, or until either organization modifies or terminates it by mutual written agreement by means of an amendment, the authority explained.
