As explained by the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira, in the context of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), 83 stations have already been installed for this purpose.
These include aeronautical, meteorological and seismic units, which correspond to the first phase of the updating process, while preparing conditions to advance in the expansion of the national network.
This responds to the United Nations’ objective of providing all people, by 2027, with access to meteorological information to safeguard their integrity, regardless of their location.
Oliveira also commented that the country applies technological innovations and links the National Space Program, in which the use of the Angolan satellite Angosat plays a relevant role. jrr/rm/mem/kmg
