The head of state highlighted on the social network Cuba and Qatar established diplomatic relations on December 13, 1989 and their cooperation is evident, both in the field of bilateral relations and in multilateral forums.
Prior to his arrival in Qatar, the president made an official visit to the United Arab Emirates, where he participated in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), which is meeting in Dubai.
In that forum, the Cuban president reaffirmed his country’s unrestricted support to the rights of the Palestinian people in the face of the genocide by Israeli occupation forces against the civilian population of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
Within the framework of COP28, Díaz-Canel held cordial meetings with the Prime Ministers of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh; of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed Ali; of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, as well as with the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, and his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
