The Military, Naval and Air representation of the Cuban Embassy in China, Colonel Waldo Perez Cortes, and Lieutenant General Yu Qingjiang, Deputy Commander of the Air Force of the People’s Liberation Army of China, presided over the activity.
“On December 2, 1956, with the landing of the expeditionaries of the Granma yacht, the nucleus of the Rebel Army was formed, which led the last stage of our national liberation struggle, to the definitive victory of January 1, 1959,” the Cuban colonel emphasized and added, that, over the years this became the current Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR).
He also pointed out: “Since the triumph of the Revolution, our armed institution has become a truly popular force, which organizes, prepares and leads the people in the defense of their conquests.”
The colonel referred to the FAR’s internationalist combative missions in the interest of helping other peoples to achieve their independence.
He highlighted the role of this institution in the economic and social development of Cuba, by combining defensive tasks with productive and other scientific-technical works.
