Trial with jail for military officer co-perpetrator in Uruguay

Montevideo, Nov 29 (Prensa Latina) Judge Isaura Tórtora reportedly ordered the trial with jail for retired military officer José Ricardo Arab in the "Fusilados de Soca" case during the military dictatorship.

Graciela Estefanell, Héctor Brum, María de los Ángeles Corbo (pregnant), Floreal Amaral, Mirta Hernández, Julio César Abreu, and three-year-old Amaral García were kidnapped in Buenos Aires on November 8, 1974.

The child was handed over to a couple of Argentine military agents and lived in Formosa province until 1985 without knowing his real identity, lawyer Pablo Chargoñia informed.

The adults were illegally moved to Uruguay and tortured in a clandestine detention center in Santiago.

They were assassinated near the town of Soca on December 20, 1974.

The judge ordered Arab’s accusation for five homicide crimes and two crimes of deprivation of freedom, among others.

José Ricardo Arab, also known as “El Turco,” was a member of the Defense Information Service, Coordinating Body for Anti-Subversive Operations (OCOA) with the Armed Forces, Subrayado digital media informed.
