This type of meeting, which is held annually in Cuba, has been gaining in quality and this last one, the seventh, was the one with the greatest depth and effectiveness, the executive stated.
In the Final Declaration, the participants expressed their awareness of the serious impacts of climate change and other factors on agribusiness.
They also expressed their commitment to do what is necessary to advance the recovery of this important sector of the economy in both countries.
They also conveyed their willingness to share experiences and concrete proposals to help overcome the current problems that afflict sugar production.
Likewise, they ratified the validity of these meetings, demonstrated by the quality and relevance of the proposals of the presentations presented and the debates, and agreed to make the scientific-technical potential available for the sustainable development of the sugarcane agroindustry.
They also recognized the importance of recovering the potential of Cuban and Mexican agroindustry, so that they are efficient, diversified and flexible, as well as the role of science and technology in achieving this objective.
Both associations agreed on the need to direct actions in the search for solutions to the technical and operational problems that today cause the deterioration of sugarcane production and hinder agroindustrial efficiency.
The 8th ATAC-ATAM Technical Meeting will take place in November 2024.
