CAL decided it after a breakdown in negotiations with the Trinidad and Tobago Airline Pilots Association (TTALPA) on the collective agreement from September 1, 2015, to August 31, 2018.
The state-owned airline cited several challenges in reaching a mutually acceptable resolution and trusted that reporting the matter to the Ministry would open negotiations soon.
Aside from CAL’s resolve, the pilots’ union is currently holding its meetings to reach consensus positions as it pushes forward with wage demands, many press outlets reported.
Tensions between CAL and TTALPA led to a workers’ strike in August, resulting in millions of dollars in losses and the cancellation of many domestic, regional, and international flights.
