Lebanon to pay tribute to martyred journalists

Beirut, Nov 28 (Prensa Latina) Political leaders, activists and communicators will pay tribute in Lebanon to the martyrs of the Al Mayadeen pan-Arab channel and the people of Palestine resulting from the brutal Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

A week after the murder of journalist Farah Omar, cameraman Rabih Al-Maamari and collaborator Hussein Aquil, Al Mayadeen will organize a ceremony to honor those who were killed.

The commemoration will bring together the relatives of the Al Mayadeen martyrs, as well as foreign diplomatic representatives and political leaders, organizations and religious leaders.

The president of the network’s Board of Directors, Ghassan Ben Jeddou, stressed that Israel will not be able to silence the voice of Al Mayadeen, whose journalists “prove to be patriots committed to this coverage.” He also reaffirmed the journalistic priority of reporting on the crimes of the occupation in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon.

Lebanon’s Foreign Ministry filed a complaint with the United Nations Security Council over the Israeli attack against Al Mayadeen journalists.

In the accusation, the ministry included evidence that Tel Aviv forces committed this crime within Lebanese territory and at a great distance from the Blue Line on the border with occupied Palestine.

The Israeli Army confirmed Tel Aviv’s responsibility in the crime against the press team, which was attacked by drones during an Israeli bombing of the town of Tayr Harfa while they were covering events in the south of the country.

During the condolence ceremonies, several personalities, authorities, politicians and the media expressed their mourning for the martyrs of Al Mayadeen and denounced Israeli brutality in the attempt to silence the voices and cover up their monstrosity.
