During his participation at the 20th General Conference of the UN Development Organization (UNIDO), the minister also urged for technology and investment in technical training.

In a note released by the Foreign Ministry, Oliveira laid stress on the impact this could have on poverty reduction and the struggle against hunger and food insecurity, as well as contributing to sustainable socio-economic development.

Oliveira also stressed that efforts to accelerate industrialization will not succeed without an effective opening of world consumer markets and the elimination of subsidy policies, which distort the competitiveness of developing countries’ economies, particularly those of the African continent.

He called for joint efforts to reduce carbon emissions and gradually decarbonize industries, as well as to focus on renewable energy sources in order to minimize the effects of climate change.
