The priest was abducted on November 20, 2022, while celebrating mass in a district of this capital, according to information released by a source in the archdiocese on condition of anonymity, and later confirmed by government spokespersons.
A member of the Society of Missionaries of Africa, known as the White Fathers, the priest lived in Mali for three decades during which he taught at the Islamic-Christian Formation Institute, attended by students from all over Africa, and served as secretary of a commission for inter-religious dialogue.
