When asked by a journalist at his morning press conference at the National Palace, he explained that it is necessary to do so, but for this process to be carried out, a constitutional reform would have to be approved in Congress with a qualified majority.
In this way, progress could be made to start cleaning the Judicial Power of the corruption that prevails there, because if we do not do it, the problem of those corrupt judges and magistrates would remain pending to be solved, he said.
There are exceptions, but in general corruption prevails among judges, magistrates and ministers who do and undo with a very conservative, reactionary and anti-popular thinking.
The law was created, he said, to serve everyone, the minorities and not only those who have money, and many of the magistrates are far away from justice, although they are close to the law.
He mentioned examples of repeated cases in which an alleged criminal is arrested with all the evidence but he can be set free using trivial pretexts such as that the investigation was not well elaborated or that a signature was missing, and he is released, even though he is a criminal who has killed people.
To the ministers who said at the Guadalajara fair that the election by popular vote could not be implemented, Lopez Obrador noted that it was possible. How could it not be possible only with them when all public offices, from the president of the Republic, state governors, mayors, senators and deputies are elected in this way?
The president added that it is very difficult for them to understand that the people are the sovereign, the ones in charge and there cannot be a political system appointed by an elite group.
