Security forces seized over 5,628 kg of drugs, including cocaine, crack, methamphetamines and marijuana in 11 months of the year, according to the Sub-Directorate General of Anti-Narcotics Information Analysis of the National Civil Police (PNC).
The PNC added that they eradicated over 10.42 million marijuana, poppy and coca bushes, which weakened the infrastructure of criminal groups involved in the illegal production of substances, the agency argued.
It also seized 8.5 billion quetzales (just over a million dollars), USD$ 92,340, 200 euros and 24,835 Mexican pesos in cash.
These actions facilitated to confiscate 228 vehicles, three aircrafts, two boats, 164 firearms, as well as the arrest of 978 people linked to this sector, while 15 are being processed for extradition to the United States.
