Cuban farmers focus on more production, less imports

Pleno-ANAP
Havana, Nov 26 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's cooperatives and peasants will sow as many as 470,000 hectares of various crops planned for the cold season, which contributes to reducing food imports, as stated by the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP).

According to a TV report, the Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Roberto Morales, headed the meeting and called for deploying ANAP´s collective intelligence to reverse current economic situation.

In this regard, Morales also called for the efficient use of resources Cuba will have available for the agricultural sector, taking into account the pressing need for the basic food basket to be assumed with more national production and not to depend on imports.

The ANAP plenary also urged to make an efficient use of lands that the Agriculture (MINAGRI) granted in usufruct to peasants and cooperatives, as well as the due control of the harvests.
