According to the institution, it will be a protocol audience on the end of Fernández’s term, and will take place at the Vatican Apostolic Palace.

The meeting will be held a few days before the official ceremony to change governments and the inauguration of President-elect Javier Milei, on December 10.

In several interviews to local media, such as Télam, His Holiness expressed his intention to visit Argentina next year. But his trip has been questioned due to Milei’s insults and statements against Pope Francis.

On Tuesday, however, the press team of the leader of La Libertad Avanza (Freedom Advances) informed that the Pope congratulated Milei on his election as head of State and expressed his wish for unity and progress for the country.

Milei, who once referred to Pope Francis as “the representative of evil on Earth,” thanked the Bishop of Rome for his message and expressed his desire to receive him soon.
