Ethiopia and Russia hold joint scientific-cultural event

Addis Ababa, Nov 24 (Prensa Latina) Russia and Ethiopia jointly held a scientific-cultural event focused on strengthening cultural, educational, scientific relations and reinforcing platforms for institutional exchange on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

The Foundation for Support of Creative Initiatives, with the assistance of the Russian Ministry of Education, organized the meeting at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Addis Ababa as part of the program “Russia-Ethiopia: Civilizational Dialogue on the Basis of traditional spiritual and moral values.”

Representatives of public, diplomatic and educational organizations from the two countries addressed the strengthening of public-private partnership in Ethiopia in particular and the African continent in general, the state television Fana Broadcasting Corporation reported.

Russian higher education institutions held presentations focusing on language, culture, history and other achievements in order to share experiences with Ethiopia, in addition to lectures under the titles “Russia and Ethiopia in the fight against colonialism and neocolonialism: the experience of history and the agenda of the future” and “Russian foreign policy in the modern world: the concept of multipolarity”.

Promoting business activity and establishing long-term partnerships between Russian and Ethiopian companies were also among the main topics of the forum.

The importance of Ethiopia’s accession to the BRICS economic bloc and the prospects for growing trade, economic and investment ties between Moscow and Ethiopia stood out among the topics discussed during the event.

Professor Oksana Mayorova, vice president of the Pan-African Center for the Development of Public-Private Partnerships, noted that the organization delved into operations in Ethiopia focusing on facilitating free scholarships for young students and providing technical assistance to companies committed to protecting of the environment and other areas such as coffee and banana production in various regions of the country.

Oksana stated that the center works with selected higher education institutions in Ethiopia in the field of research and knowledge exchange to improve the role of universities in community services in the social and economic spheres.
