Cybersecurity day in Cuba pays tribute to Fidel Castro

Havana, Nov 24 (Prensa Latina) With two audiovisual materials dedicated to the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, on occasion of tomorrow's seven-year anniversary of his physical disappearance, the scientific event of the Second National Day of Cybersecurity.

The Prime Minister of Cuba, Manuel Marrero, closed the event aimed at raising awareness about the responsible use of information technologies and data protection, both at the level of entities and the population.

Marrero highlighted the priority that the State gives to this branch, for the sake of sovereignty and the country’s own development.

He meant that the event analyzed topics related to industrial cybersecurity and its convergence with Information and Communication Technologies, with the purpose of betting on industrial development in order to achieve a more efficient economy.

In this sense, he highlighted the urgency and validity of the guidelines given by the country’s highest leadership on the need to advance computerization and incorporate automation.

He specified that in this direction, the development of prioritized projects is systematically monitored, including those associated with communication platforms or access to content, such as those presented at the exhibition fair as an expression of the wealth of knowledge created in the country.

Marrero highlighted the actions deployed through communication to increase the culture of cybersecurity in young people, where propaganda actions are directed, backed by million-dollar figures from public or covert entities.

It is about systematically damaging the image of the country and discrediting the Cuban Revolution, taking advantage of the complex economic situation that the island is experiencing.

The head of Government insisted that among the objectives for the next stage of work is to deepen international cooperation, for which the Patria event and the 2024 International Computer Convention and Fair planned for next year, spaces to delve into these topics and achieve better articulation.

The Second National Cybersecurity Day will take place until November 30, with the participation of 20 organizations of the central administration of the State and 46 entities associated with the field of operational, information and communication technologies, as well as three universities.

Raising awareness about the need to protect national cyberspace and reduce risks and vulnerabilities in work environments were the fundamental premises of this scientific event included in the event’s agenda.
