The BRI Promotion Leading Group office published a document titled “Vision and Actions for High-Quality Belt and Road Cooperation: Brighter Prospects for the Next Decade,” outlining the main guidelines to be applied in the coming years in order to consolidate the project.
According to the document, in the next decade, China will encourage all BRI member countries to achieve equitable cooperation and mutual benefits, ushering in a new phase characterized by high-quality development.
The action plan also aims to improve connectivity and cooperation in multiple sectors, raise people’s sense of profit and fulfillment, and form a new system that supports China’s open economy.
It also proposes policy coordination, infrastructure connectivity, barrier-free trade, financial integration, people-to-people ties and cooperation in new key fields to strengthen exchanges within the Belt and Road in the next decade.
The BRI, proposed by China in 2013, is a megaproject that articulates different land and maritime routes throughout Asia, Africa, Europe and even Latin America and the Caribbean.
The megaproject establishes a transregional interconnection network, mainly through investment in infrastructure, but it also covers cooperation in different sectors of the economy, society and culture.
