The Community continues benefiting from Suriname’s significant contributions to the regional integration movement, Barnett affirmed, noting that the nation has fostered regional cohesion by playing an essential role in social development in indispensable spheres.
We welcome its commitment as we work together to address common challenges and promote the region’s Sustainable Development Goals, Barnett said while conveying her wish for continued peace and prosperity to the nation that gained independence from the Netherlands in 1975.
CARICOM members are Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Anguilla, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Turks and Caicos Islands, and the British Virgin Islands are associate members of the Community.
