CubaCoop First Vice President Miguel Quintero told Prensa Latina that the conditions have been created to promote this second stage next year, which will focus on exchanging experiences and best practices between professionals and parents from the two countries to care for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
The local development project has benefited the Vilma Espin School for Children and Adolescents with Autism, a funding initiative from the Air France Foundation, French Aid, the Fraternal Metallurgic Association in France, and CubaCoop.
The current phase will allow acquiring the necessary resources for training professionals and parents and organizing meetings, one in France and the other one in Cuba, to exchange knowledge, Quintero added.
The issues to be addressed for the care of ADS children and the prospects for cooperation are outlined with the visit in France of Yanet Gonzalez, director of International Cooperation at the Provincial Government, and Tania Gonzalez, director of the Vilma Espin School.
CubaCoop and Cienfuegos province have worked together for 17 years. They intend to reach two decades of partnership in 2026 with an intense agenda of decentralized cooperation.
